Director's Note

a beautiful beginning ✨

Dear Ivy Grove families,

okay wow β€” what a week πŸ₯Ή

from the very first morning, our little house found its rhythm. books, puzzles, legos, music, movement, homemade lunches, and lots of outside time. no rushing, just watching confidence quietly bloom through cozy routines and freedom to choose.

we kept it simple this week: feel safe, feel seen, feel at home. and they did that + more β€” new friendships, asking for help in words, cracking up at lunch together. so proud of this little community already.

"We grow slowly, like ivy β€” one little tendril at a time."

Cozy Connections: story time snuggles

Children gathered for story time

storytime = our morning anchor πŸ“š little bodies scooted close, pointed at everything, finished our sentences. yes it builds language + imagination, but really? it's how we become a community. same book, shared attention, feeling like *us*.

Puzzles, patterns & patient little hands

Children working on puzzles

the puzzle table was *locked in* this week 🧩
on the surface it's matching shapes β€” underneath? focus, hand-eye coordination, fine motor, patience, waiting for a turn, peeking at how your friend does it. when the work is just right, they'll concentrate for ages. magic.

Building up! (and knocking down)

Children building with blocks
Tower building play

if you heard CRASH + giggles, that was us building πŸ˜‚
lego wall turned into color sorting, pattern making, then a tower taller than them. every tumble = useful info β€” 'needs more red at the bottom!' adjusting, retrying, rebuilding. real engineering at age 3.

Music & Enrichment β€’ 音乐与榜样

Big kid magic: violin visit 🎻

Violin visit from a big sister

special guest alert 🎻✨ Zora's big sister brought her 1/4 violin and the whole room went silent. eyes on the bow, bodies swaying. more than music β€” it's that moment of 'whoa, big kids were once little like me' and 'maybe i could do that someday too.'

Move & Grow β€’ 倧运动

Move & grow: climber confidence

Child climbing with confidence

climber got a glow-up this week β€” a little higher, slide exit πŸ’ͺ
hardest part for teachers? hands behind backs. kids paused, checked feet, asked themselves 'am i ready?' then went for it. strength + body trust built right there.

Homemade meals, together

Children eating together
Homemade lunch preparation

real food, real plates, real talk around the table 🍚
homemade lunches anchored our days. scooping, passing, pouring, 'more please' and 'are you okay?' β€” food + conversation belong together. they ate so well and the table vibe was just *cozy*.

Sand, water & pure summer joy

Children playing in sandbox
Water table play

outside is still our favorite classroom β˜€οΈπŸ’¦
water table = pour, carry, fill, dump, repeat. sandbox = scooping, mixing, 'blueberry pies' with flower sprinkles. looks like play, is actually sensory science + teamwork + big muscle work + nonstop language.
